Shubb Original Capos
When the Shubb capo was first introduced more than 30 years ago guitarists throughout the world fell in love with it. They’re still in love with it today. We’ve given it a few tweaks through the years, but its basic mechanical principle remains the same: a unique over-center locking mechanism that provides an unrivaled combination of power, speed, accuracy and ease of use. One smooth flip of the lever locks it securely in place, and removes it just as quickly.
And the Shubb capo is BY FAR the best at not creating tuning problems. Its soft, resilient rubber is specially designed to work just like a fingertip, so it doesn’t bend the strings over the frets. Its closing action is just like your hand, so it doesn’t pull the string off center. As a result, no re-tuning is necessary!
Capos continue to come and go, but the fact remains for the guitarist who is serious about quality and intonation…nothing but a Shubb will do.
Original Capo C1b
A few years ago we upgraded the original nickel plated Shubb capo, giving it the roller design, and a more streamlined look and feel. But whenever you change something, some people will prefer the original. So for those who still want the “classic” — the original Shubb capo as it has been for over 40 years — we are continuing to make the ORIGINAL Shubb capo available in plain brass.
Plain, unplated brass will darken in time. For those of us who appreciate brass, we prefer this look; reminiscent of an old microscope, or a piece of gear from a sailing ship. But if you like your brass to shine, it can be polished with a cloth and most any commercial metal polish.
Our original, plain brass capo is a natural for those who fancy a retro look.
Since 1980 the Shubb capo has set the standard against which all others must be measured. It is the first choice … often the only choice… of more than a million musicians worldwide. The serious guitarist will settle for no less.
